Privacy policy

How we handle your personal information. Last updated 16 August 2026.

⚠ Owner action required. This is a working draft covering the standard UK GDPR obligations for a trade business website. Before going live it needs your company registration details filling in, and it is worth having someone check it against how you actually store and use enquiry data — particularly if you add a CRM.

Who we are

Kernow Plumbers Ltd ("we", "us") operates kernowplumbers.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us using the contact form , and we will respond to any data request that way.

What we collect

We collect only what we need in order to respond to you and carry out work:

  • When you use the callback form: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, town, postcode, the service you need and anything you write in the message box.
  • When you call or email us: your contact details and the details of your enquiry.
  • When we carry out work: your address, details of the work, photographs of the job where relevant, and payment records.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and quote for work — because you have asked us to (steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract).
  • To carry out and invoice work — performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep safety and installation records — legal obligation. Gas and heating work carries record-keeping duties we cannot opt out of.
  • To keep our own records of jobs done — our legitimate interest in running the business and being able to answer questions about past work.

We do not use your details for marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or pass your information to third parties for their own purposes.

Who sees it

Our staff and engineers working on your job. Beyond that, only where necessary: our accountant for invoicing records, our website and email hosting providers who process data on our behalf under contract, and manufacturers where we register a warranty in your name. We may also share information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Job and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the relevant financial year, as required for tax purposes.
  • Gas safety and installation records: for as long as the relevant regulations require, which may be longer.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Ask us to delete data, where we are not required to keep it
  • Object to or restrict how we use it
  • Ask for your data in a portable format

Send a request through the contact form and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics that profile you across sites. Nothing on this site requires a cookie banner because nothing here needs your consent to run.

If analytics or advertising tags are added later, this section and the site's consent handling must be updated at the same time.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and enquiry data is sent to us by email over an encrypted connection. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use existing data will be notified to affected customers directly.
