Soft water, different problems
Cornwall's water is soft, which means far less limescale than up-country — but soft water is also more aggressive to copper, and pinhole leaks in older pipework are a genuinely common find here in a way they are not in the south-east.
Salt air eats installations
On an exposed coastal plot, flue terminals, external condensate runs and any exposed copper corrode years earlier than they would inland. It changes where things should be sited, and it is why so much coastal kit fails early.
Half the county has no mains gas
The Lizard, west Penwith, Bodmin Moor and the clay villages largely run on oil, bulk LPG or heat pumps. A gas-only firm can genuinely only help a fraction of households out there, which is why we hold the oil and LPG competencies too.
Solid granite walls
A granite cottage with no cavity loses heat at a rate that standard radiator schedules badly underestimate. Size the system to the actual building and it is warm; size it to a table and the owner spends fifteen years wondering why it never quite gets there.

The whole county, realistically from Bodmin down to Sennen. We have main coverage pages for Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, St Austell, Penzance, Camborne, Redruth, Helston, Bodmin, St Ives, Hayle and Perranporth, and we work in the villages around all of them. If you are somewhere not listed, send the form and ask rather than assuming.
How do I get hold of you?

What should I do while I am waiting, if water is escaping?
Turn your internal stopcock off — clockwise, usually under the kitchen sink, in a downstairs cloakroom or by the front door — then open the cold taps to drain the pipework down. If water is anywhere near electrics, switch off at the consumer unit. That five minutes prevents more damage than anything we can do once we arrive. If you can smell gas, ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.
Do you work on oil and LPG as well as mains gas?
Yes, and in Cornwall that matters more than it would almost anywhere else. Large parts of the Lizard, west Penwith, Bodmin Moor and the clay villages have no mains gas at all, so oil and LPG are not a niche here — they are how a great many people heat their homes.
How do you price work?
You get the price before we start, not after we finish. Bigger jobs — boilers, bathrooms, full heating systems — are quoted at a fixed price after a proper survey, with materials itemised and agreed with you before anything is ordered.
Why "Kernow" rather than "Cornish"?

Can you look after a property while I am not in Cornwall?
A lot of what we do is exactly that. Second homes, holiday lets and rentals need someone who will actually go and look, photograph what they find and tell you the truth about it. We are happy to work with your letting agent or keyholder directly.
